Hush Baby Toys came about when my daughter went through a phase where she had difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep through the night. While considering possible ways to ease the bedtime stress, I was reminded of a story my best friend told me. When her youngest sister was little, she used to sleep walk. Her parents hung lavender from the ceiling and filled her room with lavender sachets to help her relax. It worked, and she never had a problem with sleep walking again.
It was this story that inspired me to give natural lavender a try. I wanted to place a sachet close enough to my baby that the smell would be effective, but safety was my number one priority. With this in mind, the first Hush Baby Toy was born - a lavender mouse, big enough to fit a securely sewn sachet and small enough for little hands to comfortably snuggle. Mouse has since become an integral part of bedtime for my daughter, and I want to share these toys with the world of very sleep-deprived parents. I construct every Hush Baby Toy with the same care and to the same standards as that first. If I wouldn't feel safe letting my daughter have it, you can be certain I would not sell it to another baby.
